They are basically the same:  Holistic = Wholistic

As described by Merriam Webster: Holistic was coined by South African soldier and statesman Jan Christian Smuts in the 1920s…….Viewing the universe in terms of “wholes”.  …… he defines holism as “[the] tendency in nature to form wholes that are greater than the sum of the parts through creative evolution.”

‘The sum is greater than the parts.’

To me, this means that it is important to consider the whole person and not just separate parts of a person.  I actually love the spelling, Wholistic, as do many writers, because it contains the word Whole.  ‘Whole’ is defined as:

  • All of; entire
  • In an undamaged state, in one piece
  • A thing that is complete in itself

So I will use Holistic and Wholistic interchangeably.

Most importantly, a key part of my healing, that may help you too, was to begin to see myself as ‘Whole’.  In addition, how I help others is to see them as ‘Whole’, and guide them into recognizing and creating that reality for themselves.  Instead of letting my mind go down a rabbit hole of negativity and worry, I choose to say to myself things like:  “I am Whole!”  So let’s get Wholistic!

What do Mind, Body, Soul, and Spirit mean in the Wholistic Approach?

To be our best selves, I believe we must find Coherence between what we think, what we feel, and what we do.  Below are some tips to do that.

How do I find Coherence in the Mind, Body, and Soul?

MIND

From the perspective of your mind and a Wholistic Approach, you can ask yourself these questions:

  1. What are my thought patterns?
  2. Where do they come from?
  3. Are my thoughts kind, loving, and supportive?
  4. Do they help me thrive?
  5. What do my thoughts have to do with my well-being?
  6. What else is possible for me?
  7. I wonder what I am capable of creating?

Your mind can be your best friend or your worst enemy.  If you don’t look at it, observe it, and take accountability for your thoughts then there is a predictable default reality awaiting you.  However, when you get intentional and design the best thoughts, the best visions, and use your creative mind, it can serve you in finding Coherence and achieve your dreams.

BODY & NUTRITION

Of course, everything is connected, so your mind affects your body.  What you say in your mind, the body will follow.  Your body has so much to share with you.  Here are some tools that will serve you:

  • Practice feeling and listening to your body
  • Slow down and use your senses more fully
  • Feel your emotions as they arise in your body, how are they trying to serve you?
  • Take good care of your body
  • Develop powerful habits that make feeling great easy and effortless
  • Listen to all your brain centers – mind, heart, and gut
  • Cultivate your Intuition
  • Move your body daily
  • Feed your body the best

These are key elements of your health and wellbeing that can help you feel Vibrant, Energetic, and Alive.

SOUL

To me, the Soul describes the part of us that is different than anyone else.  You are a unique special being on this planet.  There is no one like you, never has been and never will be.  When we tap into our souls we can start to see our own desires and gift to offer the world.

Emotions are part of the Soul communicating with us.  Each emotion is a vibration of love and a gift.  If we can start to see the beauty and gift of our emotions and gain tools to use them to serve ourselves and others, then we will easily create and connect powerfully in this world.  When thinking about the soul I think of these things:

  • Emotions
  • Personality – the uniqueness of each individual
  • Intuition – listening and feeling to gain understanding

SPIRIT

How is your Spirit different than your Soul? Good question.  I see the Spirit as different from the Soul.  To me, Spirit is the higher self and universal consciousness.  I believe we are all connected.  We are all one.  This one big consciousness that is all of creation is Spirit.  When I think of Spirit I think of these things:

  • We are all one.
  • I am a part of something bigger.
  • What I do for another, I do for myself.
  • If I change myself, I help change the world
  • Spirit is the pure essence of love – eternity
  • Seeing the big picture

In summary, as a Holistic Health Coach, I engage in a creative partnership to inspire others to connect to all parts of their being to align their mind, body, soul, and spirit so they can creatively offer their greatest gifts to the world.

I help people dig deep into their dreams and recognize old thought patterns that keep them stuck.  One insight at a time, life is transformed on an exponential life-changing trajectory.
